Description

Somerset House Resident YESS Law (Your Employment Settlement Service) is a charity that provides affordable employment law advice focused on resolving workplace disputes, and/or preventing them in the first place. They do not litigate. They are employment solicitors and provide advice on all areas of employment law.

YESS support their fellow residents as part of their community contribution by hosting HR Club, a free workshop and network for managers and those in charge of HR. The session will cover a variety of employment law topics and attendees will have the opportunity to submit ideas for what they would like to be discussed. YESS believe that a meeting every 2-3 months at lunchtime enables residents to share concerns and top tips amongst a supportive network, as well as getting support from the solicitors at YESS. They’re happy to discuss any issues you want help with. Some possible topics for discussion could include:

  1. Poor performance and how to manage it fairly
  2. Disability discrimination and long term sickness absence
  3. Maternity and parental rights
  4. Equal pay
  5. Disciplinaries
  6. Contractor or employee? What’s the difference and how can I tell?

At the October meet up we will also be joined by Haniah Shaukat, Head of Research and Analysis at Hot Spots Movement. They work with a group of more than 100 multinational companies to explore the future of work and help them translate these insights into action by drawing on an extensive data base of corporate good practices as well as deep research-led knowledge of future-proofed solutions. Haniah will take this opportunity to share with you ten unexpected insights on the future of work.
